As some of you know from my last post, UFO lecturer Richard Doty recently went on the “Fade To Black” show with Jimmy Church. During the show, Richard made various claims about UFO crashes and he gave a description of a film he saw that showed the alien Bodies from the Roswell UFO in the past. I made another post on the Nevada UFO Blog about his cringe-worthy version of a 1953 UFO crash that was completely wrong from the same interview. During the Jimmy Church interview, Richard also mentioned an alleged UFO crash at a place called the McCoy Mine in Nevada.

I was emailing my friend Kevin Schreiber, a ufologist and MUFON investigator from Reno, Nevada about the McCoy incident over the last few days. Talking to Kevin had me thinking about writing a blog post mentioning what I know at the moment. I’ve been looking into this event a lot this week and I’m intrigued to say the least. I wasn’t thinking about pursuing the case as deep as I have with some of the other’s I’ve looked into, but my feelings on that are starting to change.

I originally heard about an unnamed crash at a small mine in northern Nevada back in the 2008-2010ish timeframe. I was doing research on a separate UFO incident from the Ely, Nevada area and I got in touch with a UFO researcher named Willard McIntyre. Willard ran an old UFO group called MARCEN and he also used to publish a magazine called the “New Atlantean Journal” back in the 1970’s and 1980’s. When I was talking to Willard about the possible date of the Ely incident, he gave me that date, but he also mentioned that another incident briefly that occurred “later than the Ely crash.” He thought it occurred in late 1953 or sometime in 1954 but he wasn’t 100% sure. I stashed that information with my notes and sat on it until recently because I was looking at other cases unfortunately.
This is going to sound irrelevant to the McCoy case but it will make sense later on in the post…
In December of 2022 I was the guest on a Youtube show called Truthseekers talking about my Ely crash research. The day after I did the interview, I had two individuals that were in the comments section of the interview and on Twitter being relentless trying to say I was a liar and they didn’t believe my story. They were both specifically focusing on the 1953 Ruth, Nevada mine story I talk about. Both individuals were saying that I was wrong and that I had a location in Lander County called the “Ruth Mine” confused with the town of Ruth, Nevada. They both were adamant I was wrong and they were right. I know the crash from 1953 really happened in Ruth, Nevada like I say in my presentations because I’ve been told by numerous people and led out to the locations by witnesses. I usually don’t respond to hecklers but in this case I did.

I didn’t say much to the heckler on Twitter because he was being rude and didn’t have any evidence to back up what he was saying. The individual on the Youtube video comments section seemed to have some evidence and know what he was talking about, which made me wonder what he was referring to so I decided to write him back. His comment was about a separate event from my events that I had just talked about.
The Youtuber’s usename is Gene Loscowski. Gene said that the Ruth, Nevada crash I describe wasn’t a UFO crash, but it was some kind of low flying object that flew low over the miners heads in a mine called the “Ruth Mine.” The miners saw the object disappear west of the mine and when the miners did eventually get to the site where they thought the object had come down they found a debris field but no object. It reminded me of the Mac Brazil debris field you hear about from Roswell where there was bits and pieces of debris but the bulk of the craft settled elsewhere.
Gene went on to further say that a writer named George Kalinki wrote an article about the Ruth Mine story in an old Nevada mining magazine in 1957. Another source he mentioned was a miner named Jacob Wright who talked about his account of being there and seeing something in 1966. I wrote Gene and never received a reply, but I did look into his claims as best as I could…

The first thing I did was look up Jacob Wright, the miner that Gene mentinod by name to see if he ever existed in Ely, Nevada to make sure he wasn’t referring to my Ruth, Nevada story. I couldn’t find any record of a Jacob Wright ever living in White Pine County. I also drove to Ely and looked up the Kennecott employment records at the White Pine Public Museum in Ely and couldn’t find him. Im pretty positive that individual never existed at the mine in Ruth, Nevada. I haven’t looked him up in Elko, Nevada or other towns further north though.
The next thing I did was try to find information on George Kalinki, the author from the 1957 mining article. So far from what I’ve found, there are tons, and I mean tons of large-scale and local mining magazines, newsletters, and newspapers from north eastern Nevada from that time. I’ve been buying up every mining magazine I could find on Ebay from 1957 and so far I haven’t found the article that mentions the Ruth Mine or an author named George Kalinki. I’m thinking that the George probably did exist, but I’m going to have to find a census somewhere to see where he lived to try and track down where he may have worked during that time to find that article Gene had mentioned if it does exist. My friend Kevin Schreiber says that he may have a lead on finding the mysterious George Kalinki. Hopefully we’ll be able to find something on him soon.
I wrote everybody I know or might know the Youtuber Gene Loscowski and it appears that Gene Loscowski isn’t his real name. I found out from other UFO show hosts that Gene talks about some pretty crazy theories about aliens running the U.S. government and things like that. He never responds to any replies or messages on the internet which is odd. Is he crazy? I’m not sure, but it did seem to me that he was pretty positive what he was talking about and he presented some evidence to back up what he said. I can’t knock him on that (yet).
Here’s where all of that ties into the McCoy Mine story…

I looked up the McCoy Mine and I found out that it’s located in the same zip code as the Ruth Mine in Lander County that Gene was talking about. When searched on Google Maps, the two mines are about 24 miles apart. The McCoy Mine is to the southwest of the Ruth Mine. Gene mentioned that the crash site was located west of the Ruth Mine. I’m thinking that Gene and Richard Doty might be talking about the same event due to the close proximity to the two mines, but I don’t know enough facts relating to the incident to know for sure.
Other tidbits…
I managed to track down two copies of the Summer 1980 edition of the “New Atlantean Journal” that have a list of UFO crashes in them. If you don’t remember, this was the magazine that Willard McIntyre used to publish. The magazine states that each case mentioned in the UFO crash list had to have had at least 3 military sources or else it wouldn’t be featured on the list. Willard told me that he was aware of a crash in the northern Nevada area where the McCoy / Ruth Mine crash allegedly occurred. This means that if this crash did actually happen, he must not have had at least 3 military sources claim to have been there.
This is an exact quote from Richard Doty when he was on the “Fade To Black” show with Jimmy Church where he was talking about the McCoy Mine crash. Before I post the quote I want to say that I have NO WAY OF AUTHENTICATING RICHARD’S CLAIMS! This could or could not be what really happened. Remember, his version of events that he told the public about the 1953 copper mine crash was awful and all over the place. Because of that, I want to let everybody know that I haven’t looked into his claims on this specific case yet, so read / watch at your own discretion (The video should be qued, if not, start at 35:59).
Richard’s Quote:
“The McCoy mining site in 1956. McCoy mining in Nevada 1956. Crash with ET’s aboard they’re all dead and apparently that craft crashed probably years before it’s a remote area of Nevada. Miners found this craft, the military got it and looked inside, all of the ET’s were decayed….”

My final thoughts on this case are mixed. I think of the possibility of this crash actually occurring and I’m a little torn. I know for a fact based on my own research that 2 UFO’s did really crash in Nevada in 1953 and 1964. I’ve researched those events and talked to witnesses in person for 15 years. I’m positive that happened. If this McCoy / Ruth Mine crash happened, that would put Nevada’s known UFO crash number up to 3 within a 10 year span. Is that possible? That’s open to your personal interpretation.
I think I’m going to officially start digging deeper into this case. I want to find out more and figure out what the story is even if it is a hoax or really didn’t happen. The more I look into this, the more mysterious and elusive the case becomes. The fact that hardly anyone even knows the basic facts of this, including myself, who eats, sleeps, and breathes Nevada UFO lore makes me want to look further. The flame is lit. Game on.
I am honored to be considered a friend….thank you!

I commend you for pursuing the story. The only caveat is simply this. How can you trust Richard Doty? I offer two words: Paul Bennewitz. Is there such a thing as an EX Counter-Intelligence Agent?
